Keeping Childbirth Natural & Dynamic

PATHWAY PROJECT

Pathway for Normal Maternity Care

The Keeping Childbirth Natural and Dynamic (KCND) programme has been developed to support the multi-professional team to implement the principles outlined in the Framework for Maternity Services in Scotland document. The pathway for normal maternity care is a strand of the Scottish Government’s KCND programme http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Health/NHS-Scotland/nursing/naturalchildbirth to facilitate ongoing risk assessment and to ensure evidence-based care by the appropriate professional for all women accessing maternity care across Scotland.  The ethos of the pathway is that pregnancy and childbirth are normal physiological processes and unnecessary intervention should be avoided.
