About these reports

The Clinical Governance and Risk Management National Standards were published in October 2005, following the interim review in 2004/05. NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) is carrying out a review of clinical governance and risk management arrangements throughout NHSScotland against these standards. Review visits began in May 2006 and will continue until May 2007. Following visits to each NHS Board, local reports have been produced and will be released onto this website on a rolling basis. A national overview of national performance will be published in October 2007.

Background

Clinical governance is intended to provide a framework for activities supporting the improvement of patient care through a commitment to high standards, reflective practice and risk management. This is achieved by ensuring that those providing services work in an environment that supports them and which places safety and quality of care at the top of the Board's governance agenda.

Equality & Diversity

NHS QIS is committed to equality and diversity. This document, and the research on which it is based, have been assessed for any likely impact on the six equality groups defined by age, gender, race/ethnicity, religion/faith, disability and sexual orientation. Click here for more info
