NHS Quality Improvement Scotland s Practice Development Unit worked with nurses and midwives across Scotland and developed a network and database of best practice in the area of Learning Disability as recommended in the report from the Scottish Executive, Promoting Health, Supporting Inclusion (2002).
A multi-disciplinary project steering group which included service users was established and nomination forms sent to all Directors of Nursing, members of the community learning disability network and to network members of the practice development unit.
Completed database submissions were assessed against criteria by an ad hoc steering group.
This database forms a snapshot of best practice in Scotland in late 2003.
