REVIEW FINDS CLINICAL SERVICES PERFORMING WELL AND MAKES RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS

Scotland can further improve on a record low number of adverse blood transfusion events by ensuring that transfusions are only conducted by staff who have been adequately trained and that patient identification is improved, a new report from NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) has found.

The PIRAMHIDS website was launched on 5 September 2008 at the conference - Delivering Better Mental Health - The Nursing Contribution.    

NHS QIS is now actively seeking submissions of positive and innovative practice in mental health to be considered for inclusion on the website.  Contact David Thomson, Mental Health Project Manager (dthomson2@nhs.net) for further information and submission guidelines.

Call for National Transfer Service for Pregnant Women

Scotland should examine whether a national service to co-ordinate the transfer of pregnant women who are in labour or close to giving birth should be established, a new report from NHS Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) said today (Sunday).

Quality Of Out-Of-Hours Services Shows

The report follows on the back of NHS QIS's review of services in 2006 which found out-of-hours services were in a state of change, due in part to the infancy of the arrangements. In order to promote continuous quality improvement in the out-of-hours service, NHS QIS initiated a speedy follow-up process, the result of which is this report.
