Project Aims

To develop a national system to:
  • Routinely monitor the performance of Scottish hospitals against nationally agreed standards for stroke care identified by the Scottish Stroke Standards Group and the CSBS.
  • To monitor progress against goals set by the strategy developed by the CHD & Stroke Reference group.
  • To facilitate an ongoing programme of national time limited audits of specific aspects of stroke care directed by the Intercollegiate Scottish Stroke Collaboration.
  • To enhance the value of collecting routine outcome indicators for stroke by collecting data to allow fuller adjustment for variations in casemix.
  • To improve the accuracy of routinely collected hospital discharge data.
  • To drive improvements in the organisation and delivery of stroke care and encourage sharing of good practice and adherence to best evidence.
