Aims and objectives
The overall aim of this project is to identify the range of current practice in child sexual abuse examinations throughout Scotland.
In particular, this project aims to determine:
The number of paediatricians and police surgeons who conduct sexual abuse examinations of children in Scotland
How these examinations are organised and the level of liaison between examiners
How frequently a colposcope is used during these examinations
What training was received in the use of a colposcope and where
The frequency of child sexual abuse examinations per doctor
The methods of documenting the clinical findings
Whether peer review is used to discuss the findings and, if so, how often
Whether standard practice in reporting of clinical findings to general practitioners, Procurators Fiscal and other agencies exists
