PROJECT UPDATE - SUMMER 2008

The NHS QIS Suicide Reporting System has been fully operational since 1 April 2008 and has received reports of suicide numbers up to the end of July 2008.

Lead officers from NHS Boards are involved in developing a Suicide Review Team Network facilitated by NHS QIS.  The remit of this Network is:

• To provide support and advice for suicide review teams,
• To share learning points from suicide reviews,
• To be consulted on and encourage the implementation of best practice,
• To promote and facilitate learning from experience.

The Steering Group has met once with its next meeting in September.

The first meeting of the Suicide Review Team Network is in October 2008.
