PURPOSE: TO TRANSFER THE SUICIDE REPORTING SCHEME TO NHS QIS
Since 1993, the Mental Welfare Commission (MWC) required NHS Boards to provide information on cases of suicide in people who were using mental health services or who had used them in the twelve months before their death. They also requested information on critical incidents. The purpose of collecting this information was to ensure that specific cases could be investigated by the MWC if necessary.
